Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in Canada.

Located in South East Asia, Viet Nam boasts a thousand-years history, a unique and diverse culture. With approximately 90 million hard-working and talented people, rich in natural resources, home to numerous world heritages, and belonging to the center of a dynamic economic growth region, Vietnam is an ideal place to visit and to do business.

Over the past decades, Viet Nam has successfully carried out the process of economic renovation and international integration, recording enormous achievements in all economic, political, cultural and social areas, etc. The country at present has diplomatic ties with nearly 180 countries and territories, trade relations with more than 200 economies all over the world and is now member of the United Nations and numerous international as well as regional organizations.

Viet Nam and Canada established diplomatic relations in 1973. Although with different cultures and traditions and being geographically located far apart, the two countries have shared common values in peace, friendship and cooperation over the past 40 years. Two-way trade between Vietnam and Canada reached about 2 billions USD in 2013; Canada now ranks 14^th among the countries investing in Vietnam; every year about a hundred thousand Canadians chose Vietnam as a favourite tourist destination; the cultural tie and people to people link between the two countries have  also been enriched by more than 200.000 Vietnamese living and working in Canada.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Canada was established in 1978 and has been actively playing the bridging role between the two countries since then. It is our hope that the Embassy’s website will serve as a useful information channel to help you better understand the country and people of Vietnam.
